Awesome Fridays: My Birth Week, Neti Pots, Yoga, and More
Happy awesome Friday, everyone! I hope you had a beautiful week. Mine has been great. If you are reading this and have been to my site before, you might notice something looks different! I am happy to present you the new layout design for Fit and Awesome. It has been a labor of love and I’m excited with the way it turned out. Enjoy!
My birthday was on Monday and over the weekend my husband and I took a little getaway to a place called Terranea Resort in Palos Verdes. It is a very special place – serene and peaceful. We had a good time just walking the property and getting some much needed rest and relaxation in. Love it there! I always keep an eye out for when they have deals on their rooms and of course this week I found this great deal on Living Social for a room there. If you live in the area, I highly recommend checking this place out!
Monday was my bday and I had a great day. You can check out my birthday recap here. I think birthdays are a good time to personally reflect on personal, professional, and health goals and set a good tone for the upcoming year of your life. I like it.
In other news, remember the sinus infection / acid reflux / I don’t know what the heck is wrong with me issue I was having? Well, it turns out it was a sinus infection. I took a strong dose of antibiotics this week to clean out my system. I also met my new best friend, the Sinus rinse. I’ve had this thing for awhile but it has never been as useful to me as it has been this week. My nose has been painfully stuffed and this has been the only thing that’s worked to clean up my sinuses. It was really gross to use since I’ve been so stuffed up, but wow – it helped a lot!
Has anyone ever heard of The Fancy? It’s a fun site with lots of cool gadgets and goofy things. They have a subscription service called The Fancy Box where you get a box full of items that are trending online that month through their site. It’s $30 plus shipping. I’ve been getting it for a couple months now and it’s really fun because most of the time one item alone is $40 so it covers the cost of the box and then some. And the items are really fun and a lot of them I have used for gifts if I don’t keep them myself. Here’s what came in my Fancy box this month:
I am particularly excited about the iphone armband. It’s something I’d never purchase for myself but now that I have it I am so pumped. Anyone want to go on a run?
Another thing I did this week that has been very healthy for me mentally and physically is yoga. I am amazed at how much mental clarity I get while on the yoga mat. If I have something I need to sort out in my head, I can go to yoga and usually will walk away with a clear idea and direction of what I need to do. Very powerful stuff.

I had a sinus infection a couple of months ago and the DR recommended a neti pot. I didn’t go for it. Rather, I boiled water in my tea pot, poured it into a big bowl, then leaned over the bowl with a towel over my head and breathed in the steam. Loved it!
