Home Gym Ideas for under $250 – Add-On Equipment

Home Gym Ideas for under $250

Home Gym Ideas for under $250

I had the idea for home gym ideas under $250 after last week’s overwhelming success with my Home Gym for Under $100 post. It turns out that a lot of you are similar to myself and looking out to build a small collection of workout and fitness equipment you can keep for at-home workouts. After creating the top 5 essentials for $100, I decided to take it one step further and create a list of additional home gym ideas for under $250. All of the items below cost less than $250 (minus tax of course). Here they are:

Bosu Balance Trainer
Price: $109
This is a smaller “at-home” version of the Bosu Balance Trainers that you’ve probably seen at the gym. They are great for so many things. Flip it over so the ball part is facing down and do squats on it. Use it to hold a plank. Do mountain climbers. Use is to do situps on. The list is endless. Love this piece of workout equipment. It is pricey at $109 but if you are willing to commit to the price and put it to good use, it will be worth your investment.

AbMat
Cost: $34.95
Grab your yoga mat and place this under your back. It will help you to ensure that you work out your entire ab region. I learned about this AbMat at my crossfit gym and it’s a much nicer, comfortable way to do sit ups. Check out this video that shows you how to do an AbMat sit up aka a sit up using this AbMat:

Yoga Block
Price: $11.36
If you plan on doing stretches at home (which you should), the yoga block comes in handy for those who are inflexible (like myself). This is not a must have, but is a nice to have as an additional equipment item you can have for your home gyms ideas for under $250.

Yoga Strap
Price: $9.99
Another great tool for stretching, especially if you can’t touch your toes on your own. Sit and wrap the strap around your feet and pull forward for a deeper stretch.

The Stick
Price: $42.95
This is my favorite recovery tool next to the foam roller. I like to sit and roll it all over my legs. It bends around your leg, which I like. It really works your calves, too.

Medicine Ball
Price: $24.99
Medicine balls are so great because they are versatile and they come in a variety of weights. You can throw them on the ground like a slam ball, use them to do weighted sit ups or russian twists, or grab a partner and throw them back and forth. They are a nice home gym staple.

Stability Ball
Price: $12.99
I really like these stability balls for sitting on at a desk. It helps strengthen your core as you work on the computer. I spent a lot of my time on a computer for work, so that’s why this item made my home gym ideas for under $250. Although if you don’t work at a desk much there are other items you may want to consider.

Well, there you have it. These are my additional home gym ideas for under $250. What about you? What are your home gym ideas for under $250? Do you think you could create a good workout space at home with this equipment? Why or why not? How often would you use it?

When I train clients at their homes, I always bring resistance bands and a jump rope. You can also buy a rack of dumbbells for under $250 on Amazon. KB’s are also good too and even a sand bag. I use these for boot camps. I do my workouts at home as well and there are so many options at an affordable price. Great post!

Those are all great ideas! Thanks for sharing. I know the medicine balls come in a rack on Amazon, too. Will have to check out the dumbbells. You can also buy foam flooring for your room if you really want to get serious. I think the idea of a home gym is very daunting to some due to cost and the thought of buying resistance machines, but you can really do it for as small or as big of a budget as you’d like!
