**Disclosure: This post is sponsored by Fresh & Easy but my thoughts and opinions, as always, are my own.
Last month my husband, Kona, and I packed up our one bedroom apartment and moved into a new home. We miss the beach, but we are still close and are so thrilled to be in our new neighborhood. Part of the fun of moving is getting to learn all your new surroundings in your new ‘hood – the best breakfast spots, the nearest gas station, the closest route to the freeway, and the nearest grocery store. One new spot I just checked out for the first time was Fresh & Easy Express.
Fresh & Easy has locations throughout CA, AZ, and NV. I’ve been to Fresh & Easy before and was impressed by their selection of food and fair prices. I had never been to a Fresh & Easy Express location before, and was looking forward to seeing what it was all about.
I went to the Fresh & Easy express location in my neighborhood after a work meeting to pick up dinner. I had about 15 minutes to get in and out of the store and pick up what I needed . I wasn’t sure what type of options they’d have available in a smaller location so I decided to get whatever I could to whip up for dinner. I was instantly impressed by their vegetable selection:
Our usual go-to dinner consists of a lean protein (chicken, steak, or turkey) and a vegetable. After scoping out the vegetable aisle I decided to go with their pre-packaged Kale salad. I was short on time and it looked good.
Next I decided to go with a protein. They had a great selection of meats. We love BBQ’ing right now since it’s summertime so I picked up two packages of boneless, skinless chicken tenders to put on the grill. They were about 1.5 lbs each and the price was very reasonable. Chicken tenders tend to cook quickly on the grill so this was a good option:
I also noticed they carry my favorite almond butter from Maranatha. This stuff is the bomb! If you are looking for a yummy dessert, this one could be it. I normally eat the regular Creamy Almond Butter glavor, but the Coconut Almond Butter is my second favorite. I eat it off a spoon as a healthy yet indulging snack. Just don’t eat too much!
Since we already had some almond butter at home, I picked up a bag of gluten-free crackers and a tea with lemonade drink. We had some cheese at home so I served the gluten-free crackers with the cheese.
I arrived at Fresh & Easy at 6:45. I was out the door with groceries in hand by 6:55. Perfect. I loved the smaller size of the Fresh & Easy express because of how quickly I could find everything I was looking for. When I got home I was able to get dinner cooked up in served in less than a half hour. That was my kind of shopping experience!
What about you? Have you ever been to Fresh & Easy? What do you cook when you’re on the go? Post in the comments and let me know.
Did you put any type of dressing on the kale salad? Its so hard to decipher which salad dressings, if any, are healthy! Lol
