Summer is here and it’s important to stay hydrated. Remember my post on Tips for Working Out in the Heat? One of my tips stressed the importance of hydration.
The main way I stay hydrated is through water and other electrolyte based drinks like Gatorade, Emergen-C, and Nuun. I was recently sent samples of a new hydration product to try called Drip Drop Hydration. The message on the box instantly had me interested. They call it “Great-tasting, medical grade hydration powder.” As someone who wants to recover from dehydration (or prevent it), safely and effectively, the idea of this being a medical grade product had my curiosity piqued. The box also says that Drip Drop Hydration delivers 2-3 times the amount of electrolytes in sports drinks.
I received Drip Drop in two flavors: Berry and Lemon. Each flavor came in a box with four packets. I tried the berry flavor first and mixed it into water. You have to make sure to mix the powder fairly well because the crystals in the powder are thick and can stick to the bottom of your glass. I really liked both flavors because they weren’t super sweet but we also thirst quenching. Even though I liked the lemon, I preferred the Berry flavor more. In fact, I loved it so much that I immediately started drafting my review. Who am I? I hardly ever love a new product that much! The only thing I didn’t like about this product is it did not list how much sugar is in it on the packet itself. It contains much less sugar than other electrolyte drinks, but the sugar is not listed in the nutritional info on the packets. I would like to see that information added.
Because I am a nutrition nerd, I studied a chart on the back of the box that shows the formula of Drip Drop and how it compares to other electrolyte drinks. Here’s a snapshot:
Now, I’m no nutritionist but from what I can tell Drip Drop is higher in sodium and potassium than other electrolyte based drink which helps hydrate you faster.
Overall
I am a big fan of Drip Drop hydration. I used almost all of the packets I was sent to try out and they came in handy when I had cha cha cha over the weekend. If you don’t know what that is, I’ll give you a hint – it’s from Beavis and Butthead. 🙂 I always enjoy trying out new products like these and this one was a clear winner. I definitely recommend giving it a try!
Drip Drop is also hosting a giveaway right now where 5 Lucky Winners will win a Drip Drop Hydration kit. You can check out the contest here. And if you want to purchase some Drip Drop for yourself, use the promo code GONESPORTY20 to get 20% off in the Drip Drop Store. Enjoy!
Thanks – going to try it out.
