I wrote a letter like this to Baby Awesome on her birthday and didn’t publish. Today I decided to publish this for Baby Strong.

You’ve always been so mild-mannered, even when you were just days, weeks, and a few months old. I used to have to set my alarm to remember to wake you up in the middle of the night because you didn’t cry much. Very few things bothered you, aside from the usual dirty diaper or Kona or your big sister getting a little too close in your personal space. You loved eating and took to nursing quite well.
Even more than food, you love your sister more than anything, and she loves you. Watching your relationship develop over this past year has been one of my most joyful moments as your mom. You light up when she’s in the room, and you always follow her around. First with your eyes, then your head, then crawling, and now walking. She makes you laugh like no one else can. She’s a great bath time buddy, too. I love seeing the special bond you two have as sisters. It is one of the greatest gifts.
Within months you were sitting up, crawling, cruising, and then just a few weeks ago you started walking. It started with a few steps here and there and quickly became your preferred method of travel. You are so calm and mellow and I love the squinty face you make when you look up at us. You love looking at yourself in the mirror and laughing, and you love to point and wave. Your latest obsession is books and I 100% approve. You are also quite obsessed with touching mommy’s nose and chin which is something I still cannot fully understand.
We’ve made new friends at our baby class and I hope these are friends you can continue to be in touch with over the years. We are so grateful for all of our new friendships and adventures that life takes us on.
Happy First Birthday! I love you more than words can say.
Love Always,
Mommy
This is so super sweet! I wrote some letters to my kids when they were younger and I have no idea where they are now. It’s great to have a blog log of this one to read back to her one day.
