Baby Awesome

Baby Awesome and Kona chilling.

Baby Awesome is officially four months old. Where has the time gone? It’s crazy!

I know every baby is different when it comes to their personalities and eating and sleeping habits. Baby Awesome has a really calm and relaxed disposition. We’re really lucky. Like right now as I type this she’s laying on the bed taking a nap. She’s been sleeping through the night and really only cries when she is hungry or needs a diaper change. We love her so much.

I have been fortunate to be able to breast feed Baby Awesome since birth. We started introducing a bottle to her in the first few days of her life because we wanted her dad and other important people in her life to be able to feed her, too! It was also great when she was first born because during the 3am feeding my husband would wake up with me and he would give her a bottle while I pumped breast milk. It was a tip a friend gave us that really helped us get more rest during the first few weeks of her life.

Munchkin Latch
We started by giving Baby Awesome 1-2 bottles a day and have tested out all different kinds of bottles to see which she prefers best. She has been great at taking any type of bottle but definitely has a preference to some over others. I’ve noticed that some bottles have nipples that flow too fast which leads to her drinking too quickly so we try and steer away from those and go for ones with the slow flow nipples.

One bottle that we received and really like is the Munchkin LATCH. It’s designed for a smooth transition from breast to bottle and the nipple of the bottle is wider than the other bottles we have (probably to simulate a real nipple). It has a slow flow nipple and it has an anti-colic valve so air bubbles don’t get trapped in the breast milk as Baby Awesome is drinking it. This is a great feature and any bottle that has it is a winner in my book.

Look, I can hold a bottle all by myself!

By the way, is it awkward that I’m writing about nipples and breastfeeding right now and it’s “flowing” so naturally? I think so. This means I must really be in the mom’s club now!

Munchkin LATCH
The Munchkin LATCH bottle comes in a 4oz and 8 oz size. Right now at 4 months Baby Awesome takes about 4-5 oz during a bottle feeding so we will probably have to move up to the next size soon. It’s crazy to watch how fast she changes. Her new thing is she tries to hold the bottle by herself which just blows me away. She can actually do it, too! She is growing so fast and changing so much everyday.

Munchkin Latch
I am in a couple different mom groups on Facebook and the topic of breastfeeding and transitioning to a bottle comes up a lot. The advice that was given to me and the advice that I now try to pay it forward is this: try a bunch of different bottles out, add them to your registry, and see what your baby likes. It worked out great for our family and I hope it does for yours, too.

I would definitely recommend adding the Munchkin LATCH bottle to your baby registry or trying it out if you’re beginning to transition your baby from breastfeeding to a bottle. The Munchkin LATCH is available at Target and Babies’R’Us or you can pick and choose your exclusive bottle size and nipple stage directly on Munchkin.com. You can also save up to 15% off your LATCH bottle purchase when you buy more bottles on Munchkin.com.

This post is brought to you by Munchkin LATCH as part of the #LoveLatch campaign.

What about you? What was your experience like transitioning your baby to a bottle? Post in the comments and let us know. Would love to have other moms share their experiences.

Is it weird that I really enjoyed this post even though I don’t have a baby? I found it so educational!

I have no experience with this AT ALL – ha ha! However, my sister is going to pop in about 7 weeks… So I need to send her a link to your blog so she can get the ins and outs of what to expect! 😉

Yes, please send this to your sister! Is she having a boy or a girl? Congrats on almost being an auntie!
