Ways to Save on Time and Healthcare Costs for Athletes

A healthier me means more time spent outdoors and doing the things I love!

Even though I try and eat healthy most of the time and I workout regularly, I am not Iron Woman. I still get sick. Or injured. Like two weeks ago when I banged knees with a girl at my adult co-ed soccer game and watched my knee swell up like a balloon. Not fun.

You can find me on the soccer field every Monday & Wednesday night.

My doctor is over 45 minutes away from where I currently live and he is often is hard to get into. Sometimes when I am not feeling well I wish he was closer to me because I don’t always think its necessary to drive out for a formal doctor visit, but at the same time I do want someone to check me out and make a quick appointment to make sure I’m okay just for peace of mind. Rather than self diagnosing myself on the internet (which I do NOT recommend), I will normally go to Urgent Care which is not the best option either. I’d like to have quicker, more affordable options available to me so I could quickly get something checked out and be on my way.

I was introduced to the Walgreens HealthCare Clinic through a campaign with #CollectiveBias. I was unaware the #HealthCareClinic existed at Walgreens and was curious to check it out. I went online to see if there were services they offered that would help save time to a busy, athletic 30-something female like myself. Here’s a couple that I found that were of interest:

  • Sinus Infections – I get these at least once a year and normally end up going to urgent care for treatment because I don’t want to drive out to my regular doctor.
  • Acid Influx & Indigestion – This is another one I usually go to urgent care for.
  • Swimmer’s Ear – I know when I get this and what it feels like. A condition that requires medicine and not long wait times.
  • Sprains & Strains-This would be good for when I do something stupid to myself in soccer and want to get looked at quickly.

They also offer sports physicals which I think is pretty neat. I remember when my high school used to offer them in the gym on certain days and I hated the idea of getting a sports physical in the middle of my high school basketball gym. This would have been much more convenient.

The Walgreens Healthcare Clinic also has an online appointment scheduler which I think is really nice and convenient. I haven’t seen doctor’s offices leverage this type of technology for scheduling yet and I assume more will do so in the future. Walgreens #HealthcareClinic

Overall I’m happy to know a service like this exists. I do want to note that I did not visit a location for the purposes of this review and only did online research. If you would like to learn more and check out the Walgreens #HealthCareClinic you can click here for more information and find a location nearest you like Phoenix or Las Vegas.

The less time I have to spend in my car driving, the better!

What about you? Is your regular doctor located near you? Would you use a service like the Walgreens #HealthcareClinic? Post in the comments and let me know!

I would definitely take convenience to get healthcare over driving out of my way to see my regular doctor. And, that it’s at a discounted rate makes it even better! #client
