Colgate Enamel Health
This post is a little bit embarrassing for me to write because it’s incredibly personal to me, but I feel like it’s something that’s important to talk about. Overall I consider myself to be a pretty healthy person. However, being healthy isn’t just about eating good foods or exercising regularly. It’s an overall state of being inside and out, from the foods you eat and drink to the products you put on your skin. It impacts everything!

Your oral health is so critical to your overall health. and what goes on in your mouth can be a window into your overall health (Source: WebMD). That has always been eye opening for me, and it’s why I believe it’s so important to make sure you have a strong oral hygiene routine.

Now, I brush my teeth 2-3 times a day and I go to the dentist every 3-4 months for regular cleanings and checkups. My teeth were in bad shape several years ago and ever since then I’ve made my oral health a priority. But I admit I have not been the best lately. My pregnancy with Baby Awesome did a number on my teeth (note: if you are pregnant make sure you are seeing a dentist!) and my last several visits have been really good because the inflammation had gone way down. However, I now had a new problem. I went to the dentist because I had some stains on my teeth that were a result of what I’ve been eating and drinking. I’ve been busy lately and drinking a lot of coffee and it was literally beginning to show. I’m told whatever can stain your clothes can stain your teeth and these coffee stains were making me very self-conscious. I got my teeth cleaned and the stains went away.

Fast forward several weeks and the stains on my front teeth returned. A couple people even asked me if I recently got braces. It was that bad. I was mortified. I made an appointment with my dentist and I was so nervous these stains were a result of me getting older and having wear and tear on my enamel. I was so relieved when my dentist was able to once again get those dreaded stains off my front teeth. They also gave me these great actionable tips:

  • Drink coffee with a straw
  • Use a new toothpaste
  • Spend an extra two minutes with my electric toothbrush polishing the stained area

The timing really couldn’t have been better on the toothpaste suggestion because on that same day I received a lovely package in the mail from Colgate Enamel Health. I was very intrigued by it because it can help strengthen your teeth for a healthier, stronger smile. That is what I’m talking about!

It’s been over a month now and I’ve been using the Colgate Enamel Health™ Mineral Repair™ toothpaste twice a day with my electric toothbrush. I floss regularly and spend two-four minutes brushing my teeth. The Colgate Enamel Health Mineral Repair toothpaste helps strength and repair your enamel from everyday wear and tear. It helps your teeth absorb essential minerals, such as natural calcium, for stronger, healthy enamel. It’s now become an important part of my daily healthy lifestyle routine.

So do I actually feel my enamel getting stronger? That’s hard to say but what I will say is this: my teeth are clean and I feel a whole lot better about myself. I am no longer self-conscious. I am smiling stronger and with more confidence these days, and for me that is priceless.

I was selected for this opportunity as a member of Clever Girls and the content and opinions expressed here are all my own.

What about you? How do you take care of your teeth? How important is oral care to your overall health? Post in the comments and let me know.
