5 Fit & Awesome Healthy Tips for 2017
It’s time for some healthy tips for 2017! We’re already over halfway through January and there’s no time like the present to be setting your goals for 2017 (if you haven’t already) and making a plan to stick to them. I always like to get new health and fitness related goodies to celebrate the New Year because I think it helps motivate me to stick to my plan of action. I received the Mind Mood & Food Boosters BabbleBoxx for the New Year and it was filled with so many awesome goodies! I paired each item in the box with some Fit & Awesome healthy tips for 2017. Check it out and enjoy!
1) Cook More Often
I always tell myself I want to cook more each year. I cook a fair amount, but there are some weeks when I get busy and meal prep and cooking take a back seat. I want to expand my cooking repertoire to have more healthy recipes on hand that I can pull from. The “Food Health and Happiness” personal cookbook by Oprah is great because it has a lot of great recipes that can be made gluten-free or paleo with some simple substitutions. It also has 11 different soup recipes that I would love to test out. The next recipe on my list to try is the one for Shrimp Lettuce Tacos. They look amazing!

2) Smart Snacking
When hunger strikes in the middle of the day I need to be sure I have the right snacks on hand. I’ve had Made by Nature snacks before and was introduced to these Tart Cherry Fig “FiggyPops” in the New Year’s Babbleboxx. They are USDA Organic and non-GMO. They are organic unbaked energy balls so they are great for before or after workouts. One energy ball is 65 calories, so you only really need two of these for a quick snack. You can get $10 off your order of $39 or more from the Made in Nature website by using the code janboosters.
3) Hydrate
The general rule of thumb is to take your weight, divide it in half, and drink that many ounces of water per day. I definitely do not do that and need to be better about making sure to drink enough water. I have seen Just Water in Whole Foods before and love how their water comes in a paper based bottle. Love products that are ethically sourced like this.
4) Be Mindful
I work a lot and when I’m not working I enjoy spending time with my family. I want to work on being more mindful in my everyday moments this year and not thinking about the amount of work I need to do, housework that is piling up, or errands I need to run. I think this is a good tip for everyone to follow and is definitely one of my healthy tips for 2017. One ritual I’ve started doing at night because it’s been cold outside is have a cup of tea after dinner while my husband and I are relaxing. He bought me a tea kettle for Christmas because I have been so into tea and we didn’t have one before. I received several organic tea blends from Tea Forte that serve all sorts of different purposes. They are part of their SIPSCRIPTIONS Collection and my favorite is the Retreat because it’s meant to help you relax. The tea is loose leaf tea and they also sent me a steeping cup with an infuser. Such a nice gift! If you are interested you can get 10% off any of the SIPSCRIPTIONS items using the code WELLNESS.
5) Get Outdoors
Being outdoors is good for the soul and I have no doubt about that. The January BabbleBoxx came with some great items for outdoor activities like FITS Socks and the EQUAL Beanie and Bracelet. I have actually bought a pair of FITS Socks before and loved them, so I was really excited to receive FOUR pairs of socks from them – the light runner, ultra light runner, medium hiker, and light hiker. They are a top rated running sock and I’m not surprised – they are super comfortable. The light hiker socks are great too because hiking socks are usually pretty thick and bulky. Those definitely have their purpose, but it’s nice to have a lighter option. Nothing like a new pair of running and hiking socks to motivate you to get outdoors! I am looking forward to going on some more weekend hikes this winter while the weather is not too warm. You can enter a giveaway for a $200 FITS Socks Gift card on their website here.
The other great items I received in my BabbleBoxx were the EQUAL Beanie and Bracelet. EQUAL is a brand with purpose. and their mission is to support equality for all and they want to #disruptdiscrimination in 2017. This is especially important right now and I love their message of supporting equal rights. You can learn more about EQUAL here.
Overall
This was a pretty great BabbleBoxx filled with great items to help keep me motivated and stay healthy, mindful, and active in 2017.
What about you? What are your healthy tips for 2017? How do you plan to stay healthy, active, and mindful? Post in the comments and let me know.
COOK MORE OFTEN = YES!!! Ever since I started hanging out with my now husband, we got into the habit of eating out, ALL THE TIME. Well, I think that was just what he did. I myself used to ALWAYS cook at home… And I have to say, now that we are married, even when we were just engaged, I started to cook more again because I miss home-cooked meals! We don’t live together YET… However, I know when we do, in less than a month, we will be cooking at home at least 4 times a week, which is a lot better than what it is right now… Even if it’s just me, and he goes out to get a burrito, at least I WILL get to cook and eat at home more! Far less of a chance of me getting sick too!
I agree with being mindful. I waste a lot of energy thinking about all that needs to get done. I need to stop and just participate in the moment I’m in! And I love Tea Forte so I’ll definitely check out the SIPSCRIPTIONS!
