Whole30 Challenge Day 10 Recap
Day 10 of the Whole30 challenge is here. I’m in double digits now. Whoa, this is big time!
I woke up early to head to Beverly Hills for a dentist appointment at 8am. I know, so early! I started going to this dentist because they were located in the building next door to the old MySpace Music where I used to work. Now the dentist is over an hour away from me and my new office but I really like them so it makes the drive worth it. Plus it brings back good memories!
I didn’t eat anything before going to the dentist so I was hungry after. I had hard boiled eggs I brought in the car with me but since I was in my old stomping grounds I decided to stop by Urth Cafe and grab a fresh veggie juice. Then I quickly stopped at my eye doctor and picked up my new glasses. New year, new glasses! What do you all think?
I also got salmon and eggs from Urth with a mixed salad and olive oil which I saved for lunch. It was pretty filling ad I felt like a fatty in front of my desk with all that food in front of me. But it was all healthy! Then I was thinking, do I feel like a fatty because of the food I’m eating or the volume in front of me? I realized this is probably one of my psychological issues with food- we think we are being healthy by eating less, not more. But we can eat more- as long as its more of the right things!
Lunch kept me pretty satisfied too which was great. When I got home I heated up some leftover paleo meatloaf and cauliflower mash for dinner. It was so good and filling. Delicious.
After dinner we got ready for our soccer game. My husband and I play in a 7v7 coed soccer league twice a week. It’s a great workout and a lot of fun. We played a really good team and it was freezing out. And by freezing I mean LA temperature where cold is 37 degrees at night. I had on a long sleeve shirt and shorts and it was NOT cutting it. At half time I put on my husbands sweatshirt and wore it for the 2nd half WITH the hood on. Burr. We lost our game 6-1. I had the 1 goal on our team so that at least made me feel slightly better.
I have been having some GI issues on whole30 this week which have been disturbing. But I’m told its the body cleansing itself so I’m sticking with it. The biggest difference I have noticed on Day 10 was when I woke up early. Normally when I get up earlier than normal I am cranky and don’t want to talk to anyone until I have a sip of coffee. But I didn’t feel like that. I didn’t even think of having coffee until I left my house and thought to myself that I didn’t drink coffee. This is a good thing!
What about you? Do you think too much volume of food is bad, even it is healthy whole foods? Do you rely on your morning coffee? Post in the comments and let me know!
I love my coffee because it’s a treat for me. Dunkin Donuts, whole cream and stevia (I’ve started adding a dash of cinnamon now, too) = the best way to start my day.
But rock on for ‘jumping the hurdle’ of needing coffee! π
I love coffee and I will continue to drink it. I love waking up to the smell of it. I love the ritual of drinking coffee in the morning. I even taught myself to drink it black! Don’t see myself giving it up anytime soon. Just nice to know I’m not so dependent on it to wake me up right now.
Love following your Whole30 updates. Darling glasses Linz!
Thanks, Michelle! I am digging my new glasses, too!
I don’t usually comment, but I’ve been following your whole 30 since the beginning and liked this post the best. I’ve been on Paleo since Oct. 2012. Ive lost more inches than pounds. I’m in clothes I “shouldn’t” be at this weight. But its all stopped and I’ve been looking into my portions. so maybe a zone/paleo?? seems like way too much planning for me. I do think some volume is good, but not sure which food volume is the best. Zone doesnt alow volume. Anyway, I’m in Philly where the day high is 25-30 and laughed a little
Thanks so much for your comment! How did you find my site? I’m so glad you did π I would take a loss of inches over pounds any day. That’s why I’m happy to put away my scale for this time period and stop being fixated on the number on the scale.
Before starting Whole30, my weight had been stalled since August. I still have about 5-7 lbs to lose and want to drop some body fat. Very curious to see how it nets out at the end of this. I will keep you posted!
I like the glasses!
Thank you! I am far sighted and have to wear them for working on the computer and reading…which is pretty much all the time. HA!
Hey chica, congrats on plowing through your Whole30 like a champ! I just finished one up about a month ago and had a good experience with it. Just keep on keeping on, the 30 days will be over in a flash. As for the GI issues, I think that’s pretty normal, just keep doing what you’re doing and they’ll pass.
You mentioned the psychological part of having a ton of food in front of you. One thing I found with the Whole 30 is that it really brought my food habits and mental stuff to the forefront. One day I found myself halfway to the secret chocolate stash on our floor at work before I even realized I was heading there! π
Hey Elizabeth, thanks so much for your comment! I’m glad to hear the GI issues are normal. They were making me a little worried especially because I am having frequent urination on top of it!
Whole30 really brings to light our mental focuses on food. I am learning a lot about that and it’s very interesting. Almost halfway there! How are you feeling now? Did you reintroduce a lot of foods back into your diet?
Love the glasses! Very stylish.
I’m on day 20 of a Whole30 and I am finding my meals SO large and can’t help with the “piggy” mentality sometimes though I never eat to the point of feeling too full. I try to remember that one of the effects of eating this way is to have ZERO cravings and to no longer feel the need for snacking – ever!
I still drink coffee but have gone from 8 espressos (yup 8!) down to 2 and I always drink it black. I’m still working on cutting it totally out. *shudders* π
Best of luck!
Julie
Thanks for the message! You are smooth sailing now. When do you end? How do you think your eating habits will change after whole30?
Wow, 8 cups of expresso a day?!?! That is intense. I love my coffee so I understand!
Thanks for the reply!
I am officially done my Whole30 on January 31st. Honestly? I don’t think I will change much once it’s over. I’ll be less strict about small things like corn starch in my vitamins, but I don’t really miss anything I’ve eliminated at all.
Except the wine. I LOVE the wine! π
