True Food Kitchen Fall Menu Tasting 2018 + Giveaway
One of my favorite restaurants in the South Bay is True Food Kitchen in El Segundo. They offer a fresh menu that changes seasonally and they have options for every diet imaginable. I love that they are so accommodating with special diets and allergies, and they can make almost any of their dishes gluten-free. I was thrilled when they opened up at The Point in El Segundo a couple years ago, and my family and I love going to dinner here for a fun night out.
Last month my husband and I were invited to try the True Food Kitchen Fall menu. Fall is one of my favorite seasons because of all the delicious fall vegetables and warm foods like squash, brussel sprouts, and pumpkin. Yum!
Immediately when we arrived they asked us if we had any special diet needs. They were already aware that I was gluten-free (they also ask when they take your reservation) so they pointed out all the options on the menu. We started out the evening with fall seasonal cocktails. I had the Pomegranate Margarita and my husband had the Apple Jack made with bourbon, lemon, and cinnamon. The Pomegranate Margarita had jalapeño in it and it was the perfect amount of spicy. We enjoyed sipping cocktails while watching the Dodgers play in the World Series. The cocktails were great. The Dodgers? Not so much.
Next up we had the Chilled Shrimp Lettuce Cups as an appetizer. They had grapefruit and jalapeño in them and I loved the tart and spicy combination. My mouth is watering just thinking about them. We also shared the Roasted Brussel Sprouts (pictured above). So good.
For dinner we shared the Dashi Ramen and Butternut Squash Pizza. I was really looking forward to trying the ramen because I’ve never had ramen before. I think the last time I had ramen was long before I was gluten-free so it was an exciting, warm treat. The ramen was made using sweet potato glass noodles. I had never had them before and I loved it. The Butternut Squash Pizza was made with a gluten-free flatbread and topped with dairy-free almond ricotta (SO GOOD), dried cranberry, and sage. The dairy-free almond ricotta is really special. I think they could sell it independently and it would do well!
