My 3 Day Juice Cleanse: Day 2 Recap
“Everyone can perform magic, everyone can reach his goals, if he is able to think, if he is able to wait, if he is able to fast.” ― Hermann Hesse, Siddhartha
Day 2 Recap:
Well, here we are in full swing of the juice cleanse. I choice the quote above to highlight because I really believe a juice cleanse and juice fast is a true test of mental willpower. I will explain more later.
Overall Day 2 was good. I woke up and had my hot water with lemon in a coffee mug to trick myself into thinking I was drinking coffee. Win. I got caught up in some work and didn’t drink my first juice until 10am even though I woke up 8am. Oops. I drank my 2nd juice around noon. I was surprised that I wasn’t all that hungry by noon. I think I was too busy to pay attention to it.
I drank my 3rd juice at around 2:30pm before walking into a meeting. I figured it would tide me over through the meeting, but I ended up getting tied up until around 5pm. I quickly went over to my cooler and got my juice #4. Today instead of Cashew Milk, it was Almond Milk. I was glad because the cashew milk is good, but it comes in around 450 calories. Holy moly. The almond milk is also in the 400 calorie range, but a tiny bit less. I drank the almond milk and realized I had a raging headache. I knew this was the “detox” part of my cleanse coming out. I felt the headache in the middle of my forehead and the top of my nose in between my eyes. It hurt. Bad. And it made driving in traffic very difficult. I also had to go to the bathroom really badly and I didn’t want to stop until I got home. I will not get into the details of the rest of that experience, but let’s just say I hope that was the ultimate sign that my body was detoxing.
After my detox experience, I drank my Juice #5 which was another Master Formula like the one in Day One. Then I sat on the couch and quietly read a book while I waited for my husband to come home. I thought about doing yoga, but I still had a headache and decided it was best to rest. The sun was coming down and it was a really beautiful time in the evening. I pulled out the Hot Yam drink (which is supposed to be the last drink of the day, but I switched). It was a really moving experience as I drank the juice as the sun goes down because I realized “Yes, another day of fasting done! The hardest part is over.” Because really, once it’s night time if you really get cravings badly you can just go to sleep. But I didn’t. I read and enjoyed my quiet peaceful time. I think the hardest part about a juice cleanse is allowing yourself to mentally accept that you will not eat solid foods for 3 days. And it will be a challenge, but you will be okay. And you will come out on the other side with a new appreciation for yourself and for food. Mind over matter.
I ended up being so satisfied with my last juice that I didn’t even drink the beet juice which was drink #6. I didn’t even realize it until this morning when I woke up. I guess that is a good sign!
Day 3 is almost over and I will post more about my experience tomorrow.
What about you? Have you ever done a juice cleanse? Interested in trying one? Post in the comments and let me know!
Sounds like quite an experience!!
