3 Day Juice Cleanse: Day 1 Recap

3 Day Juice Cleanse

Day One Recap:

I successfully survived my first day of my 3 day juice cleanse. My day started out by waking up early to be at the Torrance courthouse for Jury Duty. Yes, jury duty. Bleh. Here’s how my day went:

6:45am- I woke up, showered, and boiled some hot water and squeezed some fresh lemon in it to start my day. I am used to waking up and drinking coffee in the morning so it was nice to drink hot lemon water in a coffee mug and trick my mind into thinking it was having a morning coffee ritual. Win. After I drank my lemon water I grabbed a soft cooler and loaded it with ice packs and several of my juices for the day. You are supposed to drink the juice every 2-2.5 hours so I wanted to make sure I was prepared with enough juice to get me through the day. ABP. Always be prepared!

8AM- Drank my first juice. It was called Dr. Green Thumb. It had celery, cucumber, fennel, chard, red kale, spinach, dandelion, apple, and lemon in it. Talk about a packing a green punch. I drank this juice in my car on the way to jury duty. I was worried I was going to spill green juice on my shirt but I did not. Thankfully.

10am – I broke into my 2nd juice. This was another green juice. Fun fun. I guess they want to flush out your system in the morning. This juice was called Going, Gone, Green! and made with kale, spinach, apple, and spirulina. It was tasty.

12:30pm- Drank my 3rd juice. Master Formula with turmeric, lemon, cayenne pepper, and maple syrup. It was good and spicy and I was hungry. It did a good job of making me feel satisfied.

2:10pm- Back in the jury assembly room. I have a headache. It’s hot. People are sleeping next to me while I do work on my laptop. I am so hungry I can’t stand it. I break into my Juice #4 – Cashew Milk. This is one of the most filling drinks on the cleanse and is what is supposed to help propel you through the day. I wanted to drink it slowly and savor it, but I couldn’t. I was too hungry. After I drank it all, I felt much better.

3pm- Released from jury duty and never got called in. I get outside and it’s a beautiful day. So happy. But oh, so tired. And headachey from no coffee. I get home and take a 1.5 hour nap. I never take naps like that. Normally if I am tired I just have a cup of coffee or tea. Instead I was free from jury duty and took a nap. And it felt GOOD. Guess my body needed it.

5pm- I drink my 5th juice, another Master Formula. It’s good but I know I’m going to be hungry later.

7pm- Time for juice #6. This is supposed to be a beet juice, but I switched and drank the Hot Yam juice instead. Why? Because I was going to soccer and needed something more substantial.

8pm- Soccer time. I didn’t know if I should play or not but my soccer team needed me and I figured I would just take it easy. I tried not to exert too much energy but inevitably I did. Our team won 4-0 and I ended up scoring 2 goals. I was super stoked!

9:30pm- Home from soccer and drinking the beet juice. I had to clean up some dishes in the kitchen and it made me want to eat. But I didn’t. Although I did begin to worry about losing muscle mass and took some amino acid supplements that my doctor gave me to preserve muscle mass while juicing.

Well, that’s my recap for day one. Overall it hasn’t been too bad. I think the key is clearing out your schedule during a juice cleanse and not being put into situations where you have to deny food. That makes it way harder.

That’s all for now. Day 2 recap coming tomorrow. Enjoy!

Was the Master Formula spicy? I’m still not sure about juicing. Glad you didn’t get called into jury duty!!

Juicing is probably not something I’d recommend for you since you are low carb. Even though it is all natural, the drinks are high in carbs and sugar. But the nutrient benefit probably outweighs that.

What is your goal with this 3 day Juice Cleanse? What is the overall motivation? I’m not familiar with cleanses and interested in learning more.

Hi Brian! Good to hear from you. My goal for the 3 day juice cleanse was to literally push the reset button. I’ve been having some GI issues and had a sinus infection and decided it was time to give my digestive system a break and cleanse. When you aren’t eating food your body isn’t digesting so it can spend time healing. You can read a little more about it here: https://fitandawesome.com/gluten-free/3-day-juice-cleanse-sugar-detox/
