Thinking of Newtown CT and Sandy Hook Elementary
I have been thinking a lot about Newton CT and the Sandy Hook Elemntary school shooting the past 24 hours and while I normally don’t post about this kind of stuff, I feel like I have to. I am saddened, heartbroken, and outraged about what happened yesterday at Sandy Hook Elementary. The thought of those poor, innocent children and the teachers who risked their lives to protect them. It breaks my heart and it angers me that someone would do this to children. Innocent lost. Families changed forever. A community that will never be the same.
What I don’t understand is how the guns that were used in this massacre and other shootings earlier this year were purchased at local sporting goods stores. How is this okay? Why is gun control so hard to get in this country? Our country is in need of some serious reform when it comes to the second amendment and how we handle and approach mental illness. I know these are not simple, end all be all solutions, but they are a start. My heart goes out to the children and families affected by yesterday’s tragedy. I hope you can be comforted by the fact that you are not alone and you have an entire nation by your side. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
