Awesome Fridays: Lean In, Justin’s Almond Butter, and More
Finally, it’s Friday. I’ve had a rough week. I came down with a bad sore throat and was having chest pain early on in the week. It freaked me out and I went to the doctor. Turns out I have acid reflux and it’s creating all sorts of issues in my tummy. This has been very disturbing to me and I’m hoping to alleviate the symptoms soon. I even made a pot of healing chicken veggie soup to help me out:
Now onto more exciting things like the second edition of Awesome Fridays. Woo hoo! You’ve probably heard by now about Lululemon recalling their yoga pants because they are transparent aka “see through.” It was a big story for us health and fitness folks. I’ve heard stories about Lululemon employees making people bend over in the store to really see if the pants are transparent or not. Bad, but funny. Here’s a funny video by Jimmy Kimmel on the subject:

I was not impacted by the shortage in Lululemon pants but this whole situation gave me a good laugh.
On Monday night I saw Sheryl Sandberg speak at The Writer’s Guild in LA. She was on her book tour promoting her new book, Lean In. I haven’t read her book yet, but I bought it at the event and had the opporutunity for Sheryl to sign my copy. I asked her to sign my copy as “the pusher” since that is my nickname a friend of mine gave me because I like to push forward in everything I do. Sheryl talked about how being bossy or assertive as a female can be viewed as aggressive but actually it’s not. I enjoyed listening to her speak, but I do wish she had been a bit more candid in her answers. It seemed like everything she said was scripted or she answered by saying that a more detailed account can be found in a certain chapter of her book. It was fine, but I like it when people show a bit more personal side.
Remember last week when I posted about Tonx coffee? Well, I got my free sample in the mail this week. And to my surprise it came with its own little filter to brew. I haven’t had a chance to brew it yet but I’m planning to this weekend and I am stoked.
Last weekend we went to San Luis Obsipo to celebrate my mother in law’s 60th birthday. It was a lot of fun. We hosted a wine tasting and awarded prizes to everyone who participated. I found some really great prizes like sock monkeys, polar bear salt and pepper shakers, mustache mugs, and other fun trinkets. My husband and I wound up with an Owl kitchen timer as a prize. We are super excited about it. We usually use our iphones to time our cooking adventures but this will be even better.
Okay, this stuff is the bomb. Seriously. It’s so good. It’s expensive as hell but in my opinion it is worth it. I haven’t tasted anything like it. I think the honey almond butter tastes the best but it has honey powder on it which is not whole30 compliant. The regular almond butter is still pretty good. I highly recommend this as being worth the splurge. Go for it.
Swimming
I am fortunate to work across the street from Spectrum Club. My husband and I joined several weeks ago because my work offers memberships for a very generous price. I have been taking this opportunity to go swimming at lunchtime. I went twice this week before I got sick. I’ve been doing 25 minute power workouts with lots of high intensity intervals. It’s been really great. I love swimming! Once I get my stamina up (almost there!) I plan to step it up and join their master’s program. This is the first time I’ve had a job where I’ve been able to workout at lunch and I love it!
That’s it for this week’s version of Awesome Fridays. What about you? What is rocking your world right now? Any fun plans for the weekend? Post in the comments and let me know!
Thanks for visiting my blog! I just checked out your Awesome Friday post! I love the little owl kitchen timer! It is SO cute! I’ve got a friend coming to visit for the whole weekend! I’m pretty excited about that! 🙂 Happy Awesome Friday!
Rockin’ my world is that I’m finally starting to feel better after being down for the count all week!
Have a great weekend.
