This morning I took an 8:30am class at SoulCycle. It’s been a few weeks since I’ve been there and it felt good to get back on a bike again. I was going regularly at least once a week until the holidays hit.
Our instructor Jillian led the class. She is the same instructor who taught my Fit & Awesome SoulCycle Ride back in August. She’s a badass. Before the class started she asked us how hard we want to work today – medium hard or hard hard.
Almost everyone shouted “Hard hard.”
Eek. I was in for it. I was already sore from yoga last night.
She really put us through the wringer during this class and towards the end I wasn’t even sure my legs could go anymore. But they did. I even pushed hard through the arm weight segment even though all I wanted to do was put my weights down and take a break.
At the end of the class Jillian commended us. The class was full at 62 people and each person brought such a high level of energy to their workout this morning. She said most people decide to make a change in their lives and go to the gym starting on January 1st. Here we were working our butts off on December 29th. Technically, we are four days ahead of schedule compared to the New Year’s resolution crowd.
Then she asked us a question. Instead of saying “I will start on Monday, or Tuesday, or the first of the month why not start today?”
Then it hit me. Why not today? It’s as good of a day as any to start making a change so why not go for it.
I am starting today. My plans for 2016 are to get into great shape like I was pre-pregnancy. My husband and I are already planning our next round of Whole30 to begin in January.
When it comes to fitness and getting back into awesome shape, I am starting today. Actually, I started yesterday when I took yoga but who’s counting?
What about you? What are your goals for 2016? What is motivating you or holding you back from starting today? Post in the comments and let me know.
This post is introspective AF.
