#MNBChallenge with Lorna Jane and Fit Approach
I am currently participating in the Lorna Jane & Fit Approach #MNBChallenge. It’s three weeks long and we’re now two weeks down. This week’s focus was on NOURISH – Eating Right and Fueling your body with good, clean food. I’ve been posting my progress on Instagram at @LTsurf but here is my week two recap:
Week 2: MOVE Recap
Day 1: Meatless Monday!
The challenge today was to go meatless. Several years ago this would have been easy for me because I only ate fish. Now I eat all kinds of meat- but mostly organic and grass fed. The picture below is of my lunch which was a kale salad with veggies and cashews. I have to admit I wish there was some chicken in there, but hopefully the cashews gave me enough protein.
Day 2: TYLTW Day
Today’s challenge was to take your lunch to work (TYLTW). This one was super easy for me because I work out of my home. So all I had to do was head over to the fridge and heat something up. So lucky. Here is my lunch of carrots, green beans, mashed sweet potatoes, and meat. Yum!
Day 3: What I Ate Wednesday
The challenge for today was to keep a journal and track down what I ate. Now I’ve used apps like my Fitness Pal and Lose It before but I stop using them mainly because I just try and make healthy choices and not obsess over calorie counting. But this day I kept a journal on my notepad on my iphone. It was interesting because after I looked at what I ate for the day, I realized I did not eat enough food. This was good for me to see so I could remember to up my food intake the next day.
Day 4: Thirsty Thursday-Drink A Smoothie
This one was easy for me because smoothies are my go to breakfast item. I was busy running around all day at my client’s office in Santa Monica and by the time I drove home I was starving. I decided to stop at the Co-Op and create my own green smoothie. It was really good and the perfect snack to tide me over until dinner.
Day 5: Go Raw Friday
Today’s challenge was to go raw.Again, this one is hard because I love meat but I also love whole, fresh foods so it worked. I started my day with a “green milk” from a place called Juice Served Here. It was really good! I also had a collard green wrap which was also really tasty. I love collard greens. And for a snack I had some flaxseed crackers. Raw and all natural. Everything I ate was also whole30 approved although I admit I would not choose to eat these items had it not been the #MNBChallenge.
Well, that’s all for Week 2. Next week’s focus is on BELIEVE. You can follow my journey daily via my personal Instagram @LTsurf or look for a recap next week.
Have a fantastic weekend, everyone!
What about you? Do you have meatless meals? Enjoy raw food? Keep a food journal? Post in the comments and let me know!
I love cashews! I am not one to food journal or write down. We don’t do red meat at all, so the “meatless” meals are easy 🙂
