Making Movement, Self-Care, and Recovery a Priority in 2019
Here we are halfway through January in the first month of 2019. Every year of my life since I can remember I’ve always had resolutions. Lose weight, eat better, read more, learn to cook. The list goes on and on as I’m sure it does with you. A couple years ago I decided to move away from resolutions and focus on goals instead. Every year I set personal, professional, and health goals for myself and I do my best to work towards them.
I have three specific health goals this year that will be a priority for me in 2019:
- Move More – I’ve been focusing on working out and getting back to the gym now that Baby Strong is 19 months old. I am conscious of my movement now thanks to my Apple Watch constantly nudging me to get up and move and I’ve made a conscious goal to get up and move everyday, even if it’s simply taking Kona for a walk. My body feels best when it’s in motion and I need to make sure I take the time to do so.
- Self-Care – Earlier this year I went to see an acupuncturist. She told me my energy is zapped. I’m pouring all my energy into being a mom of two and running my business. At the end of the day, I’m leaving no time for me. I need that time. I feel like I can be a better wife, mom, and business owner when I take that time for myself. This could be something as simple as taking a long bath at night or scheduling time for a massage or facial. My goal is one hour of self-care per week.
- Recovery – This also ties in with self-care. I am making it a goal for this year to allow myself time to recover. This could mean recovery from a hard workout or a large work project. I tend to jump quickly from one major goal or task into the next and I want to create some more space for recovery and giving myself the rest time I so very much need. This also means more sleep!
At the beginning of this year I received the amazing Resolution Reset BabbleBoxx. If you’re unfamiliar with Babbleboxx, they are an influencer sampling program that get brands products in the hands of influencers. I have received Babblexboxx’s in the past and always loved this. This one was by far my favorite one yet. Here’s what was inside!
Under Armour – I couldn’t have been more excited to receive an Athlete Recovery Jumpsuit and Seamless longline bra from Under Armour Women. I had never heard of an Athlete Recovery Jumpsuit before and my husband (who is a huge sports fan) and I were intrigued. It is designed to help you recover faster and was inspired by NFL quarterback, Tom Brady. The jumpsuit has something called Celliant within the fabric which has been determined by the
FDA to increase localized circulation, leading to faster recovery. I wore it to sleep and it was very comfortable. I’m all about maximizing my rest and recovery time so this will be great! The sports bra is also really comfortable for all-day use. I’ve been wearing it underneath a sweatshirt during the day and am loving it. New sports bras make me happy.
AfterShokz Trekz Air – The second product I received were AfterShokz Trekz Air Open-Ear headphones. One thing that always concerns me when I listen to music when I workout is not being able to be more aware of my surroundings. These Open-Ear headphones sit just outside your ear so you can hear what you’re listening to as well as outside noises. They’re also wireless which is a huge plus. I don’t think I could go back to wired headphones anymore and I really like this innovative design. If you’re interested in checking them out, you can get $50 off the “Endurance Bundle” for AfterShokz Trekz Air and AfterShokz Trekz Titanium with code “BABBLEBOXX.”
Tiger Balm – This pain relieving ointment has been around for nearly 100 years and I remember my mom using it for neck and back pain when I was a kid. The Tiger Balm Ultra ointment works great. I use it after a day on the mountain snowboarding and it’s so helpful. I also keep it handy at home for using after a tough workout or just being generally sore (it happens these days). The Babbleboxx also came with a Tiger Balm Patch that I have never tried before. You peel and stick on the area where you need relief most. Planning to use these after snowboarding today because I know I am going to be sore.
CELSIUS – CELSIUS isa Fitness Drink which has been clinically proven to accelerate metabolism and burn calories & body fat while providing healthy energy. I’ve had their drinks before and now they have on-the-go powder sticks. You pour a packet into water and get the same benefits as the CELSIUS canned drink. It comes in four flavors – orange, berry, coconut, and cranberry lemon. My favorite is the orange.
Overall
I’m super happy and stoked on these Resolution Reset Babbleboxx items. They are definitely going to help me with my goals of movement, self-care, and recovery this year.
What are your goals for this year? What items from the Babbleboxx would you like to try? Post in the comments and let me know.
