Landon Donovan Father’s Day Interview with Fit & Awesome

By Lindsay Leave a Comment

Last year I had the ultimate soccer “fan girl” moment when I met Landon Donovan in person and got to juggle the soccer ball with him (you can read about that here). A lot has changed for Landon since that day last April. Landon’s son Talon was born this past January and he will be celebrating his first Father’s Day this year.

I recently had the opportunity to ask Landon some questions about life as a new dad and how he’s staying Fit & Awesome in his retirement. Below is his video interview. Happy Father’s Day to all the awesome dads out there. Enjoy this Landon Donovan Father’s Day 2016 video interview and have a great day!

And in case you are interested, here are a couple more questions and answers that Landon didn’t cover in the video but I thought were interesting to include

Landon Donovan Father’s Day Interview – Additional Questions

What are you doing this Father’s Day?

This is my first Father’s Day – I view this differently now than I have any other Father’s Day. If it’s up to me – and it is, since I’m a dad now and it’s Father’s Day – I want to eat a lot, relax, watch TV and be with my boy.

What has been the most rewarding thing about being a dad so far?

I think the most rewarding thing so far for me is being able to connect with this little being that is experiencing everything new for the first time. Everything that he sees or does or hears is brand to new to him. But when you wake up in the morning and he’s asleep on you and his eyes open and he sees you and connects with you and smiles, it’s pretty cool to know you can have that kind of impact and influence on a little human being.

What’s the most challenging part of being a new dad so far?

The most challenging part of being a parent in my opinion is dealing with the sleep deprivation and then the constant responsibility of this little creature who is depending on you. There are no breaks, so you don’t just get to put him aside for half a day or a day and go clear your mind. They are constantly depending on you and that’s difficult and challenging and it’s part of being a parent. And in the end I think it’s really rewarding.

I know you are a Neutrogena® Brand Ambassador. What is your skincare routine like now?

Years ago I could care less about skincare routines and I was a typical early 20s, young man, who thought they were invincible and didn’t need to do anything to take care of their body. Soon after that I started realizing that mid to late 20s – if I eat poorly, I am going to feel bad; if I don’t moisturize, my skin is going to start looking bad and I will start getting wrinkles; if I don’t hydrate, I am going to feel bad or not play well.  So for me now, my skincare routine is pretty basic but important to me. So I moisturize every night and every morning. I use Neutrogena Mens Triple Protect Lotion with SPF 20. When I wake up in the morning I put it on. What I love about it is that it actually has SPF in it so I feel good knowing I am protected. I always wear sunscreen when I go out outside, I take care of myself in that way. I just make sure I am protected and healthy – as healthy as I can be.

Thank you to Landon for taking my interview and to Neutrogena® for arranging this interview and helping to make it happen. I hope Landon Donovan Father’s Day is great!

What about you? What questions would you ask Landon Donovan about being a new dad? How do you celebrate Father’s Day? Post in the comments and let us know.
