Winter is officially here. The fireplace has been getting quite its fair share of use in our home, and we are just over the moon celebrating our new addition to the family.
Since we live in Southern California we don’t experience the changing of the seasons like other places do, and I know I’ve mentioned this on my blog before. But what I love about living in SoCal is our close proximity to both the beach and the mountains. You can literally surf and snowboard in the same day if you wanted! My husband and I are season pass holders at Mammoth Mountain and go up there on an average of 1-2 weekends per month during the winter to go snowboarding. We love it!
Snowboarding is definitely my favorite winter workout because you’re out in nature with friends and it is a ton of fun to explore new terrain and race down the mountain. Not only that, but did you know that snowboarding burns around 400 calories an hour? When you’re out on the hill all day from first lift at 8:30 to closing at 4pm that really adds up!
One change I’ve made to my snowboarding routine in recent years is wearing workout tights and tops underneath my snowboard clothes. I always wear a sports bra (TMI? Naw) but my running and workout gear also doubles as great first layers for snowboarding. I’ve worn everything from Tank tops with built in bras to long sleeve shirts to full-length tights. It’s great. If you’re in the market for new clothes like this, there are some great new styles right now by Target® C9.
I love snowboarding and always look forward to this time of year so much because we get to break out our snowboards and head for the hill. It will still be a couple weeks before I can snowboard again (due to having a baby!) but I literally cannot wait to get to Mammoth and introduce our daughter to our favorite winter activity!
What about you? What is your favorite winter workout? Post in the comments and let me know!
