FASTer Way to Fat Loss Interview with Coach Kelley VanHorn

A couple months ago I decided to focus hard on getting in better shape. I haven’t been feeling as strong as I did before being pregnant and I wanted to get that feeling back. From a weight standpoint I have lost all the pregnancy weight but I have been looking to feel strong again. Enter the FASTer Way to Fat Loss.
I first heard about the FASTer Way to Fat Loss when I heard their founder and CEO Amanda Tress speak at BlogFest at IdeaWorld back in 2016. She was talking about the power of live video and I was impressed. At the time Amanda was still building the program and running her marketing business. The Agency Side. I had hired The Agency Side to help me with my business, LTM Digital. Amanda has since closed that side of the business since her program the FASTer Way to Fat Loss began taking off. After years of following along on social media, I decided now was the time to jump in and try it out for myself and see if the FASTer Way to Fat Loss could help me achieve some of my own health and fitness goals.
I am now six weeks in to FASTer Way to Fat Loss and I’ve been feeling great! I haven’t weighed myself but I feel better and I bought new jeans and they were a size smaller than I normally wear. I was thrilled.
As a busy working mom, I chose this program because I wanted to find something that could fit my busy lifestyle and be flexible. I was then connected to Kelley VanHorn through a blogger friend, Chelsea Day of Some Day I’ll Learn. Kelley is a Certified FASTer Way to Fat Loss coach and she’s been instrumental in helping me on this journey and understanding this process. I have asked her sooo many questions myself and asked if it would be okay to share her answers on Fit & Awesome and she agreed! Here it is. Enjoy!
How Can Someone Get Started with Faster Way to Fat Loss?

The FASTer Way to Fat Loss is an online health and wellness program and all you have to do is sign up through this link. BUT you will definitely want to choose a great coach so that you can receive the right training and attention, be held accountable and enjoy the small group environment that is a big part of the FASTer Way experience.
Once enrolled, FWTFL will provide you with a meal plan and access to their online portal. Your coach will reach out with additional next steps for you to get started. I have rounds starting monthly (October 14th and October 28th are the next two).
How Long is the Commitment to Faster Way to Fat Loss?
Each round of the FWTFL is 6-weeks long. It includes prep and learning that allows clients to ease into the strategies of Intermittent Fasting, Carb Cycling and whole food nutrition and macronutrient tracking. FASTer Way offers a daily meal plan as well as varying levels of workouts (low impact, gym and home).
How Will I Know What to Eat, What to Shop for and How to Prep?
Great news! The FASTer Way offers a meal plan.
The meal plans offer a great basis for meeting your nutrition needs while I provide my clients with additional advice and suggestions to make your own meal plans if you want. I also provide resources on how to make the best choices when eating out.
The FWTFL meal plan offers suggestions for snacks, food swaps and ideas on what to change out for vegans/vegetarians. The meal plan includes a shopping list and I personally provide additional shopping lists and suggestions.
Ultimately, you will learn how to eat whether using the provided meal plan or creating your own (or a combination of those two things)!
Who is The Program Designed for and Can it help Busy Moms Achieve Their Goals?
Anyone! We have clients aged 18-75 (both male and female). There is a men’s and women’s program. If you have extreme health issues then by all means…get your doctor’s permission.
As a busy corporate sales exec, wife and mom, I was able to easily do this program so I know for a fact that busy moms with kids of all ages can do this. I juggled traveling, eating out and entertaining clients and home cooked meals for many months.
Do you need to carve out a little time to plan your foods/meals? Yes. but it doesn’t take long. There is a learning curve as with everything. You have to be committed to putting your own wellness first and to be a great example of health for your family. (Side note that the program is great for pregnant and nursing moms with slight modifications).
What is the Level of Fitness Required for Faster Way to Fat Loss?
There is no max or minimum fitness level required. The FWTFL offers low impact, home, gym, LIVE and an on-demand library of workouts.
Many clients choose to start off concentrating on the nutrition (which is 90% of your success anyway) and then they ease into the workouts at the level they’re at. The biggest thing with the FWTFL is that we are very focused on teaching clients the right amount of working out. Over training is so easy to do and it is detrimental to your body’s ability to burn fat.
Our workouts are effective and typically can be done in 30-40 minutes (most in under 30 minutes). Our team has put many,many hours into digging through the latest research to insure that clients workout in the most effective way.
A big fear or hold back is that people tend to think that they have to be perfect to be successful in any program (which includes that they feel they have to commit during a time period when they won’t have any ‘interruptions’ like vacation or they have to sign up when there is a lull in activity). Let’s be honest…that will never happen for 8 weeks in a row.
Our mantra in the FWTFL that I preach all the time is ‘progress over perfection’. In the past, you’ve probably felt that you have to be perfect in order to reach your wellness and weight loss goals. That’s simply not the case in the FWTFL.
The bottom line is that no one is perfect.
You should be able to enjoy a vacation, a weekend away, a birthday party – guilt free and then hop right back into eating healthfully again and keep moving toward your ultimate goal.

As for me, I was a 50 year old menopausal wife and mom of two working in the corporate world and traveling quite a lot for my job. I was struggling so much with energy, brain fog and the fat just kept piling on in my mid section. I was really feeling low and lacked the self confidence that I’d had before.
I jumped into the FWTFL in January 2018 after my friend told me about her own results. Within three weeks I felt so much more energetic, slept better and best of all I had control over my food cravings (something I’d struggled with my whole life). I was able to burn 5 inches off my waist alone and lean out all over. I’d tried literally everything in the past and nothing worked.
I had an interest in nutrition and wellness for a number of years by that point and began researching the program more. I was so happy to find out that I could apply to be considered as a coach…and the rest is history!
I love my clients and have never looked back. It’s been a wild ride and I wouldn’t change a thing. I feel so good physically, mentally and emotionally and there’s really nothing like helping others feel the same way!
Kelley’s Favorite Aspects of FASTer Way to Fat Loss
I have more than one but to narrow it down. I LOVE the flexibility of literally every strategy we use. You can’t make anything a true lifestyle if it is not flexible.
The fact that we can enjoy the foods we love (and yes, I mean foods like pizza and donuts) and not have to feel guilty about it, is such a great feeling.
I love the flexibility of being able to fast any hours that work for me (and that changes daily, btw) and guess what? Sometimes I eat breakfast, too (like during breakfast hours)!
The workouts are AMAZING. Short, sweet, fun and effective. I have saved so many hours in the gym simply by following our workouts and with all the variety I never get bored. Let’s be honest a program can only become a lifestyle if it’s workable into your WORST/BUSIEST day, right?
Flexibility is where it’s at and has allowed me to keep moving forward. Progress over perfection. You gotta love it!
