Recently I’ve been lacking a lot of free time and have been resorting to easy home workouts without equipment. I’ve been so busy lately and I see no signs of it letting up now that the holidays are here. One of the hardest things for me during the holidays is trying to balance everything. Between work, family events, and holiday parties, it becomes harder for me to carve out time for my daily workout this time of year.
I used to be the type of person who hated working out at home. I never understood the people who could pop in a DVD (or VHS in the old days) and follow along to an exercise video. Jane Fonda workouts? Not for me.
Now I tell myself that if I’m too busy to workout I will at least do a 15-20 minute home workout. It takes no time and I can do it while I am cooking and waiting for my food to be ready. Perfect. Here are a couple of my favorite easy home workouts without equipment. They are based on Crossfit principles and movements. I know Crossfit is very popular right now (and rightfully so) and I plan to talk about it more in another post.
Lindsay’s Easy “Fit & Awesome” Workouts
Workout #1: Complete 4 rounds of the following:
- 15 Air Squats
- 15 Push Ups
- 15 Sit Ups
- 15 Burpees
Time yourself. If you finish this quickly, you are in good shape. Increase your rounds. See how your time improves each time you do this. I guarantee it will make you sweat…and quickly!
Workout #2: Complete 10 Rounds of 10 Burpees. Rest 30 seconds in between rounds.
Workout #3: Do as many pushups as you can. Follow this up with a one minute plank. Repeat until you feel like your arms are going to fall off.
There you have it – my easy home workouts without equipment. All of these workouts simply use body weight so you need no equipment other than yourself. I do use a yoga mat for my at home workouts, but you can just as easily use a towel or nothing at all.
What about you? Do you workout at home? What are some of your favorite workouts?
Love these! Thanks for the inspiration. I generally use the iPhone/Android app “Nike Training Club” but even with that, I get bored of the listed workouts. I think with the above, I can manage to “workout” whilst watching TV — or at least during the adverts. ^_^
Yep, these are quick and easy. Plus you can change up the routine so they don’t get boring or old. You’re welcome 🙂
glad to see your finding time to workout.
