12 Days of Fitness: Day Two – Stay Hydrated

Welcome to the 12 Days of Fitness, Day Two: Stay Hydrated. Today’s tip is about the importance of staying hydrated through the holidays. With all the baking, treats in the office, holiday parties, and shopping, it’s hard to remember to drink water throughout the day. A good amount of water to aim for each day is to drink half your body weight in ounces. For example, if someone weighed 140 pounds, they should aim to drink 70 ounces of water per day. If they weighed 150 pounds, they should drink 75 ounces.

Here are some helpful tips to help you stay hydrated through the holidays and inspired by the 12 days of fitness. I hope these tips will help fuel your shopping and make your energy better when you need it the most!

  • Drink Water with Meals- Instead of ordering an iced tea at lunch or grabbing a Diet Coke with your dinner, order a glass of water. If plain water tastes boring to you, ask for a side of lemon. Take the lemon and put it in your water. If you don’t like cold water, ask for your water with no ice. If you eat three meals a day and try to drink at least 16 fluid ounces of water at each meal, you will be more than likely halfway over your daily goal just by meals alone.
  • Carry Water with You at All Times- I learned this one in college. I used to bring along a Nalgene Water Bottle (with duct tape wrapped around it – you know, in case of an emergency) everywhere I went. I tried to fill it up 2-3 times a day. It really helps to monitor your water intake and make sure you have water on you wherever you go. If a water bottle is too clunky for you to carry around, you can always just stick a bottled water in your purse or keep in your car.
  • Eat Foods High in Water Content- Eat foods with a high water content such as smoothies, vegetables like cucumbers, soups and salads. This can help
  • Drink a glass of water in Between Drinks or Snacks – If you are out drinking at a holiday party, try and drink a glass of water in between every drink. Or if you are hanging out by the dessert table, grab a dessert and follow it up with a glass of water.
Today’s Fitness Inspired Product: The KOR Water Bottle
12 Days of Fitness, Stay Hydrated

The KOR Water Bottle is BPA-free and made from stainless steel.

Every day for the 12 days of fitness I will be highlighting a fitness inspired product that is related to my post. I mentioned above how I used to carry around a Nalgene water bottle in college. I’ve tried a lot of different water bottles (always BPA free, of course) and my favorite right now is the KOR VIda water bottle. It’s BPA-free and it’s a stainless steel water bottle, which I love. It’s probably not the best sports water bottle because it’s not plastic so you can’t squeeze it very easily, but it’s great for general drinking purposes. Plus the mouth of the water bottle isn’t very wide so I don’t have to worry about drinking from a a wide-mouth water bottle while driving and having it spill all over me. I have it in the white and blue color and I really enjoy it. I’ve seen them a few times for sale at Fab.com for a nice discounted price too.
There you have it, day two of the 12 days of Fitness. The tips will become more intense as the time goes on. Enjoy!
