12 Days of Fitness: Day 5- Do Some Pushups
We’re back today with the 12 Days of Fitness! On day four we stepped it up and talked about the plank and today we are going to tackle the all mighty pushup. These are great, quick exercises you can do when you first wake up, find a free moment during the day, or polish off a few before you go to bed. If you haven’t done pushups before it is important to make sure you have good form. Again, I’m not a personal trainer so check out this YouTube video for some tips on form.
Again, pushups are something that work you pretty decently and don’t take that much time. That is the theme of the 12 days of fitness – these are simple tips you can incorporate into your day while you are juggling shopping for gifts, attending holiday parties, baking cookies, watching holiday movies, and all the fun stuff that goes along with this time of year.
Pushups are hard and I admit I can’t do many without having to go to my knees. But even if you have to do them on your knees, do as Nike says and just do it. Try and do 4 rounds of as many pushups as you can. Keep it up. And if you want to build on your routine from the previous 12 days of fitness post, hold a plank for as long as you can and then go into pushups. Then repeat. If you do this for 4-6 rounds you are going to be feeling pretty good!

I don’t think there is a product you really need to do a pushup. They do sell push up bars, but I personally don’t like them so I won’t recommend them. However, I did see a heart rate monitor watch on Amazon today that caught my eye. It’s made by Polar and it’s currently 60% off. This is almost as good of a deal as the Garmin Forerunner 410 they had on sale during Cyber Monday a couple weeks ago.
