12 Days of Fitness:Day 4 – Plank It
Today’s 12 Days of Fitness tip actually gets into real exercises. The first one I want to highlight is the plank. This exercise can be done anywhere – at your gym, your office, your home gym, in the park, your backyard, and more. It is an effective exercise that works your entire core.
Now, I’m not going to pretend that I’m a fitness trainer and can describe for you how to do this exercise so I am going to recommend you watch this fitness video from YouTube. By the way, YouTube is a great place to look up fitness and exercise videos. If you haven’t done it before, try doing a search for home workouts. You’d be amazed at the selection they have there!
Planks work your core, and you may be surprised at how hard they are at first. Try to hold it as long as you can. If it’s only 10-15 seconds, that’s fine. You’ve got to start somewhere! Try and do a plank each morning during the 12 days of fitness and beyond and watch yourself get stronger. Start at 15 seconds, then go for 20 seconds, then 30 seconds, and eventually work yourself up to a minute and beyond. If you do sit ups regularly this will be a good gage to see how your core is doing. I see a lot of people do this exercise and think they will be good at it because they do situps only to find out they have a weak core. So do yourself a favor, commit to the 12 Days of Fitness and Plank it up!
