Surfing & Snowboarding In Same Day: Part 3 of the Verizon #MoreSoCal Series

Verizon #MoreSoCal Series

From Snow to Surf with Verizon #MoreSoCal Series

**Disclosure: This is a post written by me about a sponsored opportunity I did with Verizon. All thoughts and opinions, as always, are my own.

It’s here! It’s here! The Part III finale of the Verizon #MoreSoCal series is live. In part I you saw me wake up at 5am and snowboard at Bear Mountain. In Part II I ate some delicious mexican food in Huntington Beach. And now in part III you can catch me chill on the beach and go for a surf!

A Little Behind The Scenes Info

I have to say, surfing on a FULL stomach was tough. Putting on a tight ass wetsuit on a full stomach and having a camera in my face was not very flattering. LOL. But it was a whole lot of fun. I was excited my flip flop changing mat made it into the video. I love that mat so much because it’s made of recycled sandals.

By the time we got to the surf in Huntington Beach, it was already windy and pretty blown out. It’s funny because when we were first planning for the shoot the waves were supposed to be 8-10ft on the filming day! Ten foot waves are way beyond my comfort level so I was thankful they died down. I was a bit bummed the waves weren’t great because I wanted to get some great footage for the video but I’m still very happy with how everything turned out. That’s the thing about surfing – every day is different and conditions are never the same. It’s a great metaphor for life and teaching you to roll with the punches.

A couple of you have asked me about safety. For the record, a lifeguard was present for the filming of this video. His name was Claude and after we filmed I got to take a picture in his sweet lifeguard truck. I felt like I was in an episode of Baywatch. That was one of my favorite TV shows as a kid so it’s only fitting:

Cue the Baywatch music.

My cousin Tommy also joined us on set and he let me borrow his board because he has a much better Go Pro surfboard mount setup than I do. He has lived in Huntington Beach for over 15 years and runs a touring company there called Surf City Adventure Tours. Thanks so much for your help during the shoot, Tommy!

I want to thank all the folks at Verizon for presenting me with this AMAZING opportunity to check snowboarding and surfing in the same day off my bucket list. I had so much fun!

What about you? What’s your ultimate #MoreSoCal day? Post in the comments and let me know!

Very fun to watch! I can imagine it must have been tough to surf on a full stomach!

Oh yeah, it was kind of gross actually! I was soooo hungry and then soooo full. Hurt to put on my wetsuit 😛
