Happy Birthday To Me: Celebrating Another Year of Life
Today is my 31st birthday. I feel old. According to my dad I am starting to get what he calls “long in the tooth.” I sure hope not!
This past year has been amazing for me. I married my husband and best friend this past September and we couldn’t be happier.
I have been told that you should do something on your birthday that sets the tone for the next year of your life. Here’s what I did today to help set that tone:
- Signed up for my first paddleboard race. It’s a 2.2 mile fun paddle in Santa Monica on June 8th. It’s time to take my new stand-up paddle surf board out and into the water for some healthy, fun competition.
- Decided to swim pier-to-pier this summer. This is a classic race from Hermosa Pier to Manhattan beach pier. It’s 2 miles. I’ve never swam in the ocean for 2 miles before but I’m going to start training now so I can be prepared.
- Wrote down my personal, professional, and health goals for the next year of my life. Last year my goal was to be healthy and get in shape and I lost 20 pounds. This year will be tough to beat so I will vow to keep working towards my ultimate weight goal.
- Did yoga and took a walk on the beach to reflect and remind myself to always be patient and present in the moment. This is an important one for me. I am always thinking three steps ahead and want to learn to be more present.
Now I will leave you with a picture of this yummy gluten-free cupcake I had tonight in celebration. My husband and I went out for a sushi dinner to celebrate and it was delicious. Birthdays and celebrations are great, but they lead to lots of sugar and unhealthy eating. I’ve decided to start a 3 day juice cleanse and sugar detox next week to get back on the healthy eating train. All this celebrating has been fun but I have a sinus infection and need to get my health back on track.
Cheers!
Lindsay
Happy Birthday! 🙂
May God continue to bless you in all that you do. I pray that He would help you do exceedingly and abundantly beyond all you could ask or think. I’m sure that your next birthday post will be even more incredible. 🙂
Blessing,
Mariah
