Awesome Fridays – 4/19/13
I know Awesome Fridays are supposed to be about all the great things that I’ve discovered over the past week. But to be honest, it’s been a rough week and it just doesn’t feel right to be doing so today when there’s so much serious stuff going on in our world. I wrote a post earlier this week on my thoughts on the tragedy at Boston Marathon. You can read them here:
My Thoughts on the Tragedy at Boston Marathon 2013
My mind has been full of so many thoughts and emotions this week. I am still in shock that they have not been able to find out who was behind all this. It’s just terrible. As a runner I have taken this all very personally and I have found myself gravitating toward activities that calm my mind – yoga and surfing. This week my workout schedule looked like this:
Sunday – Temescal Canyon Hike to Skull Rock (5-6 miles)
Monday – Soccer
Tuesday- Yoga
Wednesday – Surfing (AM) & Soccer (PM)
Thursday- Yoga + 3 mile evening walk
Friday – ?????
I would have ran more but for the past four months my only running has been at soccer. My body has not been responding well to running so I have taken time off. This week makes me want to hit the pavement more than ever. I miss having an event to train for. But then again, my routine right now has been working really well for me. My goal for next week is to run along the beach once. The weather is getting nicer and I am counting on you, my awesome readers, to hold me accountable and make this happen next week!
I am not sure what type of workout is in store for me today. Yoga? Swimming? Strength training? We are headed to Mammoth this weekend for a final weekend of snowboarding for the season so this weekend will be filled with plenty of activity, too. I hardly ever workout every day in a week. Maybe it is how my mind is wrapping around everything that’s going on in the world right now.
Hugs to all. TGIF.
Lindsay
