Awesome Fridays: Traveling New Zealand Style

Happy Awesome Friday, everyone! I hope you have all been having a great week! On a scale of 1 to Awesome, my week has been beyond awesome. Why? Because I’ve been traveling all over New Zealand.

We flew into Auckland and spent a day in Wellington, New Zealand’s capital city. The city reminded me of a cross between Seattle and San Francisco. The town was also built on a hillside so there were many beautiful homes nestled in the hills. We had a fun day exploring the city and even saw the Mexico National Soccer team at dinner that night (they were in NZ for their game against the All Whites, which happened to be in Wellington this past Tuesday night).

Next we took a ferry and arrived to the South Island. The ferry was such a beautiful experience with gorgeous scenery everywhere we looked. The second half of the ride was really neat because we traveled through a strait and had gorgeous views of land on either side of the boat. Don’t worry, I got lots of photos and will post more soon.

View from the ferry. Pretty awesome, huh?

We arrived to the South Island and spent a few days in a quaint beach town called Kaikoura where our friend Julian is from. It has been very fun to experience New Zealand with someone who grew up here.

Yesterday we went wine tasting in a region called Blenheim. The wine here is so good! It’s all Chardonnay, Savignon Blanc, and Pinot Noirs. No Cabs because the climate isn’t ideal for that.

We have plenty more of exploring to do so off I go! We’ve got some great content lined up on Fit & Awesome while I’m gone and I’d like to extend a special thanks to Sarah from Low Carb Kitty who’s been helping me out with the site right now while I’m out and about. You rock!

Have a great weekend everyone. Be fit. Be awesome. Go exploring.

Lindsay

Didn’t have “social media” when I traveled abroad. Kept a journal! A little outdated way now! So nice to read about your travels now!
    🙂
