Awesome Fridays: September is the New Summer
Happy Awesome Friday, everyone! I hope you had a great labor day weekend and a wonderful, short 4 day work week. This week has been great because the sun has been shining everyday and it’s been HOT at the beach. That’s why I’ve decided that September is the new summer. You see, for most of July and August it was pretty foggy and overcast at the beach. And now that summer’s “over” and all the kiddies are back in school, the sun is out and the heat is ON. This seems to be a pattern over the years and is why I’ve decided that September is the new summer. And to top it off, the waves have been GOOD this week. I surfed the past two mornings and plan on going again tomorrow. Love living at the beach!
Here are some things I’ve found around the web this week that I think are awesome and worth noting:
Little 3 Year Old Surfing Baby
This kid is too darn cute! I hope my future kids can surf as good as him one day!
Diana Nyad completed her record setting swim from Cuba to Florida. 110 miles on her 5th attempt. What does this teach us? To Never, EVER, Ever Give Up on our dreams. This is such a tremendous and inspiring accomplishment. We salute you, Diana! Check out this TED Talk from Diana Nyad two years ago. Still inspiring today:
I had a great opportunity via the influencer network Sverve to review Insightly, a CRM tool for small businesses. I tried it out for my own business and I’m really happy to have connected with the team behind this product. You can check out my review on my business website here: Insightly CRM Tool Review
If you’re a blogger, I put together a Resources & Tools for Bloggers page on my business website. Check it out and tell me what you think.
I took a fun sushi making class over this past weekend and posted my review about it. Check it out. It was so fun to try a new thing like making sushi. My review is here.
In other news, we are taking Kona to her first puppy training last this weekend and are very excited. She is way too cute right now and her legs are really tall and she’s in her awkward growth stage.
As far as workouts go this week, I’ve gotten back into strength training and been doing lots of squats and kettle bell swings. I’m also really sore from surfing so much, but it’s a good sore. I haven’t been sore like this from surfing in a long time and it feels good. I plan on following it up with some laps this weekend.
Next week I begin training for a 10k I’m running next month. I used to run all the time but now I mainly only run during soccer. A little nervous to start up again but also excited. Any tips for getting back into it? I’m all ears.
That’s all I’ve got for you today. Have a great weekend. Be Fit. Be awesome.
Lindsay
What about you? Is it hot where you live right now? What do you think of Diana Nyad’s record swim? Post in the comments and let me know!
I will definitely watch that Ted Talk this weekend! Enjoy the surf.
Thanks, Nicole! The talk is pretty darn inspiring. Hope you are well!
