Awesome Fridays 4/26/13: One Year Gluten-Free Anniversary, Dark Magic K-Cups, and More
Happy Awesome Friday, everyone! I know last week was tough for many of us given what happened at the Boston Marathon and the city being of Boston being on lockdown last Friday. I hope you are all having a much better week than last. Icky.
This week was significant for me because it marked the one year anniversary of me becoming gluten free. Happy one year no gluten anniversary to me. It was one year ago on April 23rd 2012 where I took my doctor’s advice to heart and became serious about not eating gluten. One year later and I’m almost 20 pounds lighter (I fluctuate between 17 and 20) and I feel great. I also now eat red meat for the first time in 20 years and I am married to the best husband a girl could ask for. I am truly blessed!
Here are some things I am digging this week:
For those of you who don’t know, I am a coffee addict. I love it. Love love love it. The smell of coffee gets me up in the morning. It’s the best. Last Christmas my husband and I received a Keurig Coffee Maker. It’s great because I am the only one who drinks coffee on the weekdays (interesting, I know) and this saves us from having to make an entire pot of coffee. I use it everyday and we enjoy trying all different sorts of K-Cups. My friend Tuyet introduced me to the “coffee crack” that is Dark Magic awhile back and wow- it is strong stuff. Not only is it strong but it is GOOD. I drink my coffee straight with no cream or sugar and I love the Dark Magic. We ran out of it this week so I ordered our refill. Gotta have it.
Mammoth Mountain
This past weekend my husband and I went to Mammoth for our final snowboard weekend of the winter. I actually wouldn’t even call it winter. Spring was in full effect. I was all decked out in my pink panks, pipe gloves, and spring jacket. I got my 686 spring jacket years ago and I was sad because it didn’t fit me. I literally couldn’t zip it over my belly. It was embarrassing. I kept the jacket in hopes that I would one day fit into it again. And now I do! So exciting. I love weight loss. Below is an image of my snazzy jacket.
P.S. That’s not me in the jacket, just a chica from the catalog.
Here’s what my workout schedule for this week looked like:
Sunday- Snowboarding
Monday – 4 mile hike + Soccer (50 min game)
Tuesday- Yoga
Wednesday – Surfing + Soccer (50 min game)
Thursday- REST (much needed)
Friday – TBD
Today I am planning on either doing yoga OR going for a stand up paddle session. Yes, a stand up paddle session. I ordered a board back in October and I’m told today might be the day I get to take it home and call it mine. Wish me luck!
