Awesome Fridays – Pumpkins, GLOW, Stitchfix, and more

Happy Awesome Friday, everyone! I hope you had a great week. Our Anniversary weekend last week was so much fun. It was so great being back in Santa Barbara where we got married. It’s amazing how many memories instantly come back to you by being in the same place. So wonderful.

This week is the first week where it feels like fall here in Southern California. The sun is still shining but the air is crisper, has a different smell, and carries a gentle breeze. These are subtle changes in the weather you probably would only notice if  you live here year round. I love summer. But I really love fall. Then again, I also love winter and spring too. Hmm…I guess that means I just love LIFE!

Here are some things I am digging this week:

Yesterday I read a story about how a teen’s request for a pumpkin spiced latte from Starbucks on the day she died prompted a whole pay it forward movement. It’s a sad story but I am happy to see there is some good coming out of it.

If you live in the LA area, there’s a really cool event happening in Santa Monica tomorrow night called GLOW. They light up Santa Monica with all sorts of neon attractions. It is really amazing and if you are looking for something fun to do this weekend I highly recommend it! If you are into Stand Up Paddle Boarding, there’s a local surf shop that is hosting a glow night paddle. Um, file under awesome!

There’s a video floating around on Upworthy about how an 8 year old boy wrote a letter to Santa and asked him to stop bullying in school. It made me teary eyed. It’s a beautiful story and very emotional.

In other news, this week I had an awesome opportunity to visit the Lorna Jane athletic store in Malibu for a personal styling session! I probably tried on their entire store. It was so much fun. I walked out of there with some really fun new workout clothing. My post about my experience is coming next week and you can see what outfits I ended up with.

My new Stitchfix shipment came last week and I posted about it. I love this service!

Social Media Week is going on here in LA this week and I’ve been going to various panels on and off throughout the week. I went to a screening of a new movie called The Secret Lives of Dorks. It’s a teen movie and it was super cute. I also went to a panel on how musicians build communities online hosted by the Social Media Club LA and I finally got to meet AJ from Confessions of a Fat Girl in person. She is so awesome and if you haven’t already, go check out her blog!

I also made some really yummy pumpkin bread with a recipe I got from my friend Sarah at Low Carb Kitty. I am planning on posting it soon so you can all get your dose of pumpkin and Fall in.

This weekend will be one of firsts for me because I am completing my first paddleboard race! I haven’t been training as much as I should be so I’m not expecting amazing results. I just want to finish. Wish me luck! Have a great weekend, everyone. Be fit. Be awesome. Be you!
