Awesome Fridays: Surviving Whole Foods, Slow Runners & Anniversary Weekend Time!
Happy awesome Friday, everyone! I hope you all had a great week. Here’s a roundup of all the interesting things I found on the interwebs this week:
The Slowest Generation: This article states that younger Athletes are less concerned about time when it comes to racing. I have to admit that I see a lot more people dressed up in costumes during races now and I find it to be annoying, but this author is basically saying that slower runners should just stay home which I disagree with. Take a look and see for yourself. Kudos to @runwithheart on Twiter for sharing.
Stop Doing These 7 Things if you Want to Be Healthy:I have admittedly been guilty of a lot of these lately, especially ignoring strength training and not stepping on the scale daily. I need to get back into my groove.
Surviving Whole Foods : A pretty hilarious and surprisingly accurate article. Namaste, bitches!
Top 5 Stand Up Paddle Board Spots in Ireland: This is a guest post for another site I’m involved with called SUP Surf Blog. One of our writers from Ireland wrote this super cool story. Check it out!
This weekend my husband Marion and I will be heading up to Santa Barbara to celebrate our one year wedding anniversary! Wow, it’s so crazy to think its already been a year. The time has flown by. I guess time really does fly when you’re having fun! We are planning to go and stay at the same hotel we stayed at when we got married which will be a lot of fun. Kona is going to her grandparent’s house for the weekend, and we’re going to try and get some surfing, running, or stand up paddle boarding in this weekend. Santa Barbara is such a cool place!
I didn’t have this blog last year when we got married which is also crazy. Fit & Awesome is only 10 months old and still in its infancy. Thank you to everyone who has been reading and supporting this sit over the last year. You are all awesome!
What about you? What are your thoughts on the articles above? Have you ever been to Santa Barbara? What advice would you give to young newlywed couples today? Post in the comments and let me know! Have a great weekend!

I guess it depends on the race – whether I want to run for time. With the Disney races, I just kind of give up b/c I can’t around runners who block the entire width of a route. 😛 THat was an interesting WSJ article.
Happy anniversary!!
Thanks, Chris! Looking forward to the SMC event next week 🙂
The Whole Foods piece was so hilarious! I’ve read it over and over and it cracks me up every time. Have an awesome weekend!! 🙂
It’s so accurate its brilliant! Have a great weekend, too!
I laughed so hard reading that WFM article this week!
Happy Anniversary. Beautiful wedding photo!!!
I know. It’s so true we all can relate. Thanks for the anniversary wishes!
Loved the whole foods article, totally cracked me up!
I personally like it when people dress up for ‘themed’ races (IE Turkey Trot). It’s so cute ^_^
Yes I think it’s fun for turkey trots and Christmas races. But every race??? Too much.
