Awesome Fridays- 7/19 Paleo Shopping List, Shark Week Toms Shoes & Tough Stuff
It’s Friday and you know what that means – time for another addition of Awesome Fridays! This week has been very busy and productive. The weather has been so nice and yesterday I was able to catch a midday swim. What can I say, it was great! I love summer.
I am super excited about a post I wrote this week on recommended paleo shopping list items. Why am I so excited about this post? Well, people often ask me what types of snacks they can eat on a gluten-free and paleo diet. Usually I just send them a list of the same things I always recommend. I decided to take it to the next level and actually post the list so next time someone asks me I can just send them a link. Yeah for technology! Here’s a link to the post if you haven’t seen it yet: Paleo Shopping List.
There was a funny article floating around the Internet about 33 things people here in Los Angeles love to do. Some are just outright silly but I have to say a lot of them are true. Juice cleanse, anyone? Sign me up!
Shark Week is coming and Tom’s Shoes recently released a line of Shark Week inspired shoes. Um, can we say awesome? I am in love with these and may just have to get myself a pair:
On a more somber note, we had a very scary thing happen at our soccer game on Wednesday night. A guy playing on the field next to us had a heart attack in the middle of the game. He was not breathing and did not have a pulse. Several players administered CPR to him. I have never been in an emergency situation where CPR has been administered before. It freaked me out. The paramedics came and gave the man CPR and used the paddles to jumpstart his heart. The man is currently sedated in the ICU in stable condition. I did not know him personally, but playing in the same soccer league for several years you begin to recognize the players on the other team. It is very tragic and I have been continuing to keep him and his family in my thoughts. I also keep thinking about how precious life is and how it can instantly change in a moment. Things that we think matter probably don’t in the long run. If you can, take a moment today to appreciate life in some small form – whether it’s stopping to smell a flower, staring up at the sky, or calling a friend just to say hi. Enjoy every moment. I think we get so wrapped up in our everyday lives and its important to live in the present moment.
I hate to talk about somber stuff like this but I have to put it out in writing because it’s been bothering me. I would be remiss if i didn’t say something.
Alright, go out and have a great weekend! If you are doing something fun, post in the comments and let me know.
Over and out,
Lindsay
Wow – that must have been really intense and frightening. I hope the guy is OK.
Thanks for the reminder re: Shark Week! I still don’t have a pair of Toms…maybe I should splurge and buy the Shark Toms 🙂 Have a great weekend.
