Awesome Fridays 7/12: Manhattan Beach in the News, Great White Sharks..eek.
This has been a wild week for Manhattan Beach in the news. On Tuesday night I went for a walk with my friend Diane and there was a helicopter circling the water. Turns out there were two 5 foot great white sharks spotted in the water within 15 ft of surfers. The helicopter circled over El Porto for about three hours that night. Our small, sleepy beach town is also jumpy over a body that was found in a nearby park. It just happened yesterday so they don’t have much information. I know Polliwog Park and have swam there several times. Scary stuff.

It also rained really hard last night. I was surprised because it never rains in the summertime. I felt like we were on the east coast or something!
Awesome Find
I got a sweet new pair of Rainbow Sandals this week. I pretty much live in Flip flops, and these are some of the most comfy flip flops out there. I think this is my 3rd pair!

In other News…
Yesterday I fasted all day in preparation for my doctor’s appointment because i was supposed to get blood work done (cholesterol tested, etc). I had really amazing results the last time my blood was checked back in February [you can read my awesome recap story here] so I was curious to see how I was doing. Turns out the doctor was so happy with my continued progress he decided to hold off on testing for another 4 months. One thing he said to me I will share with you all:
“When you do the same things, you get the same results. When do you different things, you get different results. Do what gives you the results you want and stick with that plan.”
So true. It’s been over 15 months now since I changed my lifestyle and went gluten-free. Sometimes I fall off track and eat or drink sugary things here and there, but that’s life. The important thing is that I don’t let that completely derail my efforts and I always get right back on that proverbial horse. I am so happy I’ve finally found what works for me and drives results.
There are a couple other diet related news stories that caught my attention this week that I will post here for you:
- Study: Diet Soda does not help you lose weight. Um, are we surprised here?
- 80% of People Worldwide will Soon Stop Eating Wheat Lots of good stuff in this article. Educate yourself.
I am also working on my email newsletter. I only plan to send them out every couple of weeks so you won’t be spammed I swear. Please sign up and I will be so so happy 🙂
