Awesome Fridays – 6/28 Swim Paddles, Moonlight SUP Session, Stairs & More

Standup Paddleboarding

Happy Awesome Fridays, everyone! I hope you are all gearing up for a fun summer weekend. I know I am looking forward to some rest, sun, and relaxation. Woot!

Last weekend we had a Super Moon and some friends and I went out to Marina Del Rey at 6:30 on Sunday night and went for a paddle. The water was smooth, calm, and glassy with no wind and perfect temperatures. It was so awesome being out there on the water like that. We paddled about 4.4 miles total and my arms were sore by the end. We had some fun adventures and saw a sea lion. So cool!.

I went to go swimming this week and there happened to be a Master’s Swim class going on when I got to the pool. The coach was kind enough to let me jump in with everyone even though I was joining 15 minutes into the class. It was a great workout and I even got to try swim paddles for the first time! I LOVED THEM! I am so obsessed I am planning on investing in a pair for myself. Here are the ones similar to what I used:

I also learned that the larger the paddle, the more resistance. I tried using a bigger paddle but it was a little too hard. I really enjoyed using the smaller paddle!

Funny story about the class: after the class the coach was giving out passes where you can bring a friend for free. I looked at her name and realized it looked familiar, but I couldn’t figure out why. Later that night I realized that it was @MBSwimChick from Twitter! We’ve been talking on Twitter for a long time and I had no idea it was her. It’s a small world after all.

Yesterday I decided to be brave and go tackle the Manhattan Beach Stairs. I ended up doing them several times and it felt great. Today my calves are super sore though! Do any of you do stairs as a conditioning exercise? What a great workout!

This week I also posted my review on Amazon Fresh’s new delivery service here in LA. It is pretty sweet. Check out my review on the service.

I know a lot of my Fitness blogging peeps are out in Portland this weekend for Fitbloggin’ 2013. I hope you all have a fabulous time!

Be Fit. Be Awesome. Have a great weekend.

Love,

Lindsay
