Awesome Fridays: 5/3/13 Dodgers, SUPs, Dawn Patrol Truck and More

Happy awesome Friday, everyone! I hope you all had a fabulous week. The weather here in SoCal has been very bi-polar this week. It was foggy and cloudy and now it’s 90 degrees at the beach! And apparently it’s supposed to rain next week. Weird SoCal weekend!

This past weekend our friends Pam and Julian came to visit us from Mammoth Lakes. We went to the Dodger game and got to walk down to the field and watch the fireworks. So fun! Julian is a snowboard instructor at Mammoth Mountain so if you ever need a lesson, give him a holler!

I also got a chance to get outside this week and attend some panels at Digital Hollywood. This is a conference on entertainment and technology and was held in Marina Del Rey. I got to check out some very interesting panels and a highlight for me was meeting the Co-Founder of the BlogHer network. They are doing some pretty cool things! Here is a view from the conference:

Here are some other awesome things I saw online this week:

Dawn Patrol Truck
This is a cool Indiegogo campaign started by two surfers in the LA area. Their concept is really simple: create a mobile food truck / surf shop that services surfers during the wee hours of the morning aka “dawn patrol” when most surf shops aren’t even open yet. Their plan is to go to the Manhattan Beach and Venice areas first one they launch so obviously I’m very excited about this prospect! You can check out more info on their campaign here: Dawn Patrol Truck on IndieGogo

Activyst
Another cool Crowdfunding campaign on IndieGoGo. This company caught my eye because they are making really neat athletic bags for women AND helping to fun athletic programs for girls in other countries like Nicaragua and Ethiopia. Check it out…their campaign ends soon and they are very close to reaching their final goal. Activyst on IndieGoGo

I also recently dove into the world of Stand Up Paddleboarding. I am super excited about my new board. Check out my post on it here.

If you’re in need of a good laugh, check this out. I guarantee it will put you in a happier mood! Hilarious Yoga Mat Ad on Craigslist

In not so awesome news, I’ve been sick this week (3rd time in 2 months) and finally ponied up and went to the doctor. My GI tract has been messed up for weeks since I’ve been battling with this acid reflux disorder. Now I have a sinus infection. Joy! I have decided to go on a 3 day juice cleanse next week in an effort to “clean myself out” and rejuvenate. Monday is also my birthday so I feel like it’s a great way to start out my new personal year. I also have plans for another detox in the works that I will post more about next week.

Have a great weekend, everyone! Be fit. Be awesome.

What about you? Have you ever contributed to any crowdfunding campaigns? What were they? Have you ever done a juice cleanse? Post in the comments and let me know!

Hope your acid reflux clears up. I get occasionally (usually when my bowels aren’t moving quickly enough) and it’s awful! Hope you have a great birthday on Monday.

Thank you! Turns out the acid reflux was caused from my stomach being irritated from coughing and hacking so much. Today is the first day in weeks I am starting to feel more normal on the GI front. Maybe I am turning the corner. Yay!
