Happy Awesome Friday!
It’s Friday, everyone. And I am happy like the Pharrell song. Why? Because everyday this week I’ve been able to live stream the World Cup during the day while I work. So today’s Awesome Friday post is dedicated to this beautiful sport.
I love soccer, and the World Cup is like Christmas for soccer fans. I just can’t get enough of it! Today my #2 team, Italy, lost to Costa Rica. I never guessed that would have happened. I remember when I travelled to Costa Rica in 2008 I bought a soccer jersey (I like to buy soccer jerseys from every country I visit, since every country but the US is obsessed with soccer like I am), and my friends laughed at me because Costa Rica didn’t have a very good team back then. Well, look at them now. There have already been a lot of updates in this tournament like England and Spain already being out. Insane. INSANE!
Now let’s talk about team USA. To pump you up for the boys in red, white, and blue please watch this video:
This video was created by a group called American Outlaws to pump people up for the USA vs. Ghana game. The US has been put in a very tough group bracket nicknamed “The Group of Death.” Why is it called the group of death? Because the other teams in the group are Germany, Portugal, and Ghana. Germany is arguably the best team in the world, Portugal has Ronaldo, and Ghana knocked the USA out of the World Cup back in 2010. There is some stiff competition. But thankfully, the US beat Ghana 2-1! And now they play Portugal this weekend. I couldn’t be more nervous / excited / scared about this game. But I really do believe our team is better than its ever been and I do believe that we can beat Portugal on Sunday. So from now until then, I’ll be chanting #Ibelievethatwewillwin. Join me if you can!
And if you are a soccer fan or want to join the bandwagon (I won’t judge, I swear. I want more soccer fans in this country) here are some fun World Cup souvenirs (affiliate links_ you can pick up to join in on the fun. Enjoy and happy Friday!
What about you? Do you love soccer? Been following the World Cup? Post in the comments and let me know!
